Project Triton

Install

Triton (Τρίτων in Greek) son of Poseidon and Amphitrite, a sea daemon, messenger of the deep.

Project Triton is an umbrella project. It aspires to bring together all relevant available Open Source technologies and products to create a comprehensive Enterpirse Class monitoring system that will encompass computing systems and services. It is based on several OSS projects to create a complete monitoring environment. At its core sits the Nagios monitoring engine.

Why Triton?
As with any large and serious system, the learning curve and operating times can sometimes be steep especially for those that are not knowledgable of the underlying technologies. This is what Triton addresses and is its prmary target; the minimization of th elearning curve and operating expenses in monitoring and pro-actively addressing problems related to computing systems. It brings together all software components and instructions in order to get up and running as quickly as possible. Even if you are not a Linux administrator.

Current State
We are in pre-alpha state where I am gathering the necessary parts that will constitute this system. Release 0.0.1 is a minimal first release, actually this is an assembly of basic packages required to do Nagios monitoring.
