Open Source

I was inspired for this catalog from the Open Source Victoria catalog work and advocacy for Open Source software. My intention is to present available software that is Open Source and available for open use. A secondary aim, as a native Greek speaker, is to provide a more Greek bias on this available material. Something that is hardly available right now.

Current State

Open source software is closely related with several Unix operating systems, most notably what we now call the Linux type system. BUT open source software is not only for Linux. Many applications are also availalble for Microsoft Windows© systems.

As the current state of the Linux like operating systems has advanced into such a good state it is practically possible for a computer system to entirely operate on open source software (operating system and applications). Below there are suggestions for also doing that but mainly this is a record of notable applications which are published under some open source license.
